Clean installing is our recommended way to go as iOS 10 is a major firmware update and it’s always better to start fresh to make sure no battery drainage or performance issues occur. Here’s how to go about clean installing iOS 10 on your device.

Step 1: Update to latest version of iTunes on your Windows PC or Mac.

Step 2: Download IPSW file of iOS 10 tailored for your device from link below.

Step 3: Turn off Find My iPhone on the device. To do this, head to Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone and toggle it to off.

Step 4: Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to your computer via the Lightning/USB cable.

Step 5: Now launch iTunes and select your device, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 6: Next, if you are a Mac user, you need to hold the Alt key, for Windows users this will be the Shift key, and then click on the Restore iPhone… button. iTunes will now prompt you to select the IPSW firmware file. Step 7: Now sit back and relax as iTunes installs iOS 10 on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Be patient as this could take some time depending on the speed of your computer and the type of device you are installing it on. Once installed, your device will reboot automatically and you’ll be greeted with Hello screen of iOS 10.
