Android 4.1.1 CM10 Jelly Bean ROM for Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 [Working on GT-P3100, GT-P3110 and GT-P3113]

CyanogenMod 10 gave a great way to get the taste Jelly bean Android on your Tablet unofficially. Right now, only few tablets like Asus Transformer, Motorola Xoom have got the Jelly bean update. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 devices are the 3rd Gen Samsung Tablet but yet Samsung has not taken any initiative to provide the Android 4.1 update. All thanks goes to XDA developer member codeworkX who has informed us about the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean port for Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. The ROM is working on GT-P3100, GT-P3110, or GT-P3113. The ROM is working fine but there are few minor issues like Touch do not respond at lock screen [happens only in rare case], Home screen is always in landscape mode and cannot be turned into portrait mode. I am sure that developers will resolve the issues very soon. We also got some leaks that Samsung is creating Jelly Bean 4.1 update packages for Galaxy Tab lineup. But still we need to wait for Official announcement.

Pre-Requirement:
  1. In order to proceed with this upgrading process you need to root your Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 withClockworkMod recovery installed on it.
  2. Backup your precious data, apps and settings on your device such as contacts, SMS, MMS, APN settings, MMS settings, Wi-Fi passwords, images, videos, music etc just to make sure that you have kept them safe somewhere.
  3. Check for your device battery whether it is charged or not. It is better for the device to charge it’s battery to at least 70% before engaging in any kind of update process. Otherwise, your progress will get interrupted by turning off the device.
  4.  Please enable the USB Debugging option on your Galaxy Tab 2 just through the path ‘Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging’ and checking the option box for USB Debugging.
  5. The security suites like firewall, antivirus etc must be disabled on your computer and device so that it will no longer be able to interrupt the process.

How to Install Android 4.1 CM10 ROM on Galaxy Tab 2 7.0:

Step 1.   Let’s start the upgrading process by transferring both (specific ROM and Gapps) the zip file to the root of the sd card.
Step 2.   Then, you need to turn off your tablet and then boot into recovery mode. To do so, you need to press and hold the Volume Down + Power button simultaneously till the Tab 2 logo appears on the screen. Once it appears, release the Power button only. You can release the Volume button when recovery screen appears.
Step 3.   Make a Nandroid backup of your current ROM because you will never know when and where it will be needed such as if you don’t like this ROM at all. You can perform this backup process by selecting Backup & Restore > Backup.
Step 4.   Then in the recovery mode, you need to select ‘install zip from sd card’ and then once again select ‘choose zip from sd card’ to browse into the sd card and select the zip file for CyanogenMod 10 to flash it on your Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.
Step 5.   After flashing the ROM you needs to flash the Gapps for having Gmail, Google maps etc on your device. So, repeat the above steps but in place of choosing ROM, you need to choose Google Apps package.
Step 6.   Once you have completed flashing both the zip file, then you need to return to the main menu and select ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option. Confirm this by selecting ‘Yes’ on next screen.
Step 7.   Then select the Reboot System Now to restart your Galaxy Tab.
